About
Margo has a first-class honours degree in psychology, graduate diploma in applied psychology, and a postgraduate diploma in counselling. In a prior life, Margo qualified as a Chartered Accountant and understands how the pressures of corporate life can flow into intimate relationships. Clients can expect their initial sessions with Margo to involve a Gottman Connect assessment, and discussion of their concerns and the co-creation of a treatment plan tailored to their unique goals and needs. Margo believes in empowering clients with tools. Committed to staying updated with the latest methods, Margo has completed training in various areas such as EMDR, Schema Therapy, Compulsive Sexual Behavior, Motivational Interviewing, and CBT for substance abuse, among others. Her dedication to professional development ensures that clients receive the highest quality of care and support.
Margo believes intensive (longer) sessions have many benefits over traditional 50 minute weekly sessions. Gottman intensives typically involve extended sessions, often lasting a full day or multiple days, allowing couples to dive deeply into their relationship dynamics in a concentrated period. This intensity can foster rapid progress and breakthroughs that might take weeks or months to achieve in traditional weekly sessions. Couples are fully engaged and committed to addressing their issues without the distractions of daily life, work, or other obligations that can arise between weekly sessions. The concentrated nature of intensives allows couples to practice tools and strategies in real-time and experience immediate shifts in their relationship dynamics. For couples facing significant relationship challenges or crises, such as infidelity, addiction, or major life transitions, the intensive format allows couples to address urgent issues quickly and collaboratively develop strategies for moving forward.
